Hermann Hampel
As of 24 September 2026

Background
Since 2017, Hermann Hampel has worked where technology enters the day-to-day running of companies. Today, in his main job, he leads a team for AI solutions at an internationally active industrial company. There he takes language models and automation from idea to production, including data access, security and training for the specialist departments. Before that, he spent several years in vehicle development: most recently as head of an innovation team of around ten people and as technical project lead of a research project that brought AI-controlled street lighting into field operation. His first projects were building a public rapid-charging station and testing display systems for driver assistance. Biwak grew out of this work: many businesses want to use AI but can’t simply send their documents just anywhere.
Responsibility for the guides
Hermann Hampel is responsible for the editorial content of this website under § 18(2) MStV (German Interstate Media Treaty) (Legal notice) and puts his name to every article in the Guides. Biwak itself offers an AI tool and is therefore not neutral: wherever Biwak appears, the article also says what it isn’t good for, and comparisons name what others do better.
How the articles are written
- Draft. Research and drafting are done with AI assistance, based on legislation and information from authorities and vendors that is linked in the article.
- Independent check. A separate, AI-assisted review pass that did not write the draft checks the key legal, numerical and vendor details against the raw text of the sources, not against summaries, and checks the text against Google’s guidance on helpful content.
- Review log. For every article, a log records which detail was checked against which source with which excerpt, and with what result. Blocked pages were read via the Official Journal of the EU or the web archive; no block was circumvented. The key details are checked, not every single sentence.
Below every article, the “About this article” box shows when its details were last checked against the sources and whether a human has approved it. The overview is under How the guides are written.

Frequently asked questions
Who writes the Biwak guides?
Hermann Hampel, the founder of Biwak, is responsible. The texts are written with AI assistance and checked against their sources in a separate, AI-assisted pass. Every article says so in the “About this article” box.
Has a lawyer or tax adviser reviewed the articles?
No. There has been no review by a qualified professional, so the legal articles are not legal advice. They cite their sources so that your adviser doesn’t have to start from scratch.
How do I report an error in an article?
By email to kontakt@biwak.ai, with the article’s address and the passage. Biwak corrects it and states the date of the change on the article.
