How the guides are made

Who writes
The person responsible is , the founder of Biwak, who is also named as such in the legal notice under Section 18(2) MStV (German Interstate Media Treaty). In his main job, Hermann Hampel leads a team for AI solutions at an industrial company; he founded Biwak. Since 2017 he has been taking technology from the idea into operation. Biwak is a sole proprietorship based in Munich, not a law firm and not a tax advisory practice.
How
  1. Draft. Research and drafting are done with AI assistance, based on legislation and information from authorities and vendors that is linked in the article.
  2. Independent check. A separate, AI-assisted review pass that did not write the draft checks the key legal, numerical and vendor details against the raw text of the sources, not against summaries, and checks the text against Google’s guidance on helpful content.
  3. Review log. For every article, a log records which detail was checked against which source with which excerpt, and with what result. Blocked pages were read via the Official Journal of the EU or the web archive; no block was circumvented. The key details are checked, not every single sentence.

No review by licensed professionals has taken place; the legal articles are therefore not advice. Whether a person has approved an article is stated in the “About this article” box below the text.

Why
Most AI roll-outs get stuck on data protection, professional rules and the question “What can the tool really do?”. Because we offer an AI tool ourselves, we are not neutral: wherever Biwak comes up, we also say what it is not good for, and comparisons name what others do better.
How current
Every article shows when it was published and when its content last changed. The date only changes when the content changes — not because we took another look.

Questions people ask

Who writes these articles?

The person responsible is Hermann Hampel, the founder of Biwak. The texts are created with AI assistance and checked against their sources in a separate pass. Every article names its sources and the date of that check. No review by lawyers or tax advisers has taken place.

Is this legal advice?

No. The legal articles are the groundwork we had to do for ourselves, with the legal references. Where a question depends on your circumstances, the text says so. The decision is up to your adviser or your data protection officer.

Why does a software vendor write about law and data protection?

Because most AI roll-outs get stuck on these questions, not on the feature list. Anyone who says “your data stays protected” must first have understood which test that sentence has to pass.
